Hello and welcome, my name is Evan Webb and this is my blog (as the hipsters call them). This will serve as my primary mode of communication with y'all – friends, family, and strangers – while I study in Japan at Kansai Gaidai University in the Spring of 2007. I welcome your comments and questions as this journey begins and goes on.
For strangers who have happened upon this site perhaps by some clever search, welcome. You can get a vague silhouette of who I might be (or who you imagine me to be) by the information in my profile (the link is on the right). A shadow moving through these words will be your narrator and guide, and hopefully we'll have some fun and insight, eh?

Evan,
Thanks for sending me the link to the blog. I feel like we lost touch with you 202 guys after sophomore year. I hope you are very excited about Japan. I am in Senegal (west Africa) this semester and I was in Ghana last semester. Anywho, I am sure you will have a great experience!

Seriously, how is the life of a gaijin? Stuff here is pretty much the same, except for the awesomeness of the Wii. Have fun now!
Hey Evan,
I hope Japan is going well. I'll try to check this thing often. Anyway, things are well here but my roomate is pissed that you are in far off lands and can't give him more music. Anyway, stay cool.
Fresh back from London Town, still waiting on my soul to catch up with the body, awed by sacred spaces and profane places made holy by communion with open-minded, good-hearted students: Tintern Abbey, Canterbury Cathedral, Thomas Becket's personal chapel for Henry II in Dover Castle, the warm little pub in Bath where we broke it all the way down to the inevitability of death and the sacrality of every moment, the Chirico streets of Salamanca, Spain, where I happened upon the desk and pens of Miguel de Unamuno, whose _Tragic Sense of Life_ has helped keep me in this crazyass world, and finally, after 25+ years of waiting and hoping, a photo of 4 of us pilgrims on the Abbey Road crosswalk.
Have a rockin' good time in the Land of the Rising Sun, pal.
All who wander are not lost,
LD
